he Spirit of Islam Alive — Ashura Observed Across Pakistan Amid Tight Security
Islamabad:
Youm-e-Ashura, the 10th of Muharram, was observed across Pakistan with deep religious devotion, solemnity, and respect to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala.
Thousands of mourners participated in mourning processions, Zuljanah processions, and religious gatherings held in cities and towns across the country. Scholars highlighted the timeless message of Karbala, emphasizing truth, justice, patience, sacrifice, and standing firm against oppression.
Extraordinary security arrangements were put in place nationwide to ensure the peaceful observance of Ashura. Police, Rangers, and other law enforcement agencies remained on high alert, with heavy deployment along procession routes, Imambargahs, and other sensitive locations. Surveillance cameras, walkthrough gates, drone monitoring, and strict security checks were also employed to maintain law and order.
To facilitate mourners, volunteers and welfare organizations set up Sabeels offering free drinking water, sweetened beverages, sherbet, juices, and other refreshments along procession routes. Free meals (Langar) and sweets were also distributed among participants and the general public as a gesture of charity, hospitality, and remembrance of the spirit of Karbala.
Rescue teams, medical camps, municipal authorities, and district administrations remained fully active throughout the day, providing emergency medical assistance, sanitation services, and other essential facilities.
Youm-e-Ashura serves as a powerful reminder that truth, justice, and righteousness ultimately triumph over tyranny. The unparalleled sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) continues to inspire millions around the world, symbolizing courage, faith, patience, and unwavering commitment to the principles of Islam.
“The message of Karbala lives on: Truth can never be defeated, and sacrifice in the cause of justice remains eternal.”
