Global Relief Efforts Intensify After Deadly Venezuela Earthquake
Caracas | International Desk
International rescue and humanitarian efforts are underway following the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela, leaving widespread destruction and triggering a major emergency response across the country.
According to the latest official reports, at least 188 people have lost their lives, while more than 1,500 others have been injured. Rescue authorities fear the death toll could rise further as search operations continue and many people are still believed to be trapped beneath collapsed buildings.
The powerful earthquakes caused extensive damage to homes, hospitals, roads, bridges, and public infrastructure in Caracas and several other affected regions, forcing thousands of families to evacuate and seek temporary shelter.
Emergency response teams are working around the clock using heavy machinery, search-and-rescue dogs, drones, and specialized equipment to locate survivors trapped under the rubble.
The international community has responded swiftly. The United Nations has activated emergency coordination mechanisms, while the United States announced humanitarian assistance worth 150 million dollars along with specialized rescue teams.
Several countries, including Mexico, Colombia, El Salvador, France, Spain, Italy, Panama, and Ecuador, have dispatched rescue personnel, medical teams, emergency supplies, food, clean water, and essential medicines to support relief efforts.
International humanitarian organizations, including the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), UN agencies, and other relief groups, are providing emergency medical care, temporary shelters, food assistance, clean drinking water, sanitation facilities, and psychosocial support to affected communities.
Aid workers say rescue operations remain challenging due to damaged infrastructure, disrupted communications, and ongoing aftershocks. Authorities continue to urge residents to remain vigilant while emergency teams work tirelessly to save lives and deliver humanitarian assistance.
The Venezuela earthquake has become one of the country’s most severe natural disasters in recent years, prompting an unprecedented international humanitarian response aimed at supporting recovery and rebuilding efforts.
