US–Iran Conflict: Pakistan Leads Open Mediation Offer as Diplomatic Efforts Continue,
Amid the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran, Pakistan has emerged as one of the few countries to openly offer mediation and host potential peace talks. Islamabad has proposed facilitating dialogue and providing a venue for negotiations as efforts to de-escalate the conflict intensify.
While Pakistan’s offer has been made publicly, other countries such as Oman, Qatar, Türkiye, and Egypt are largely engaged in behind-the-scenes diplomacy, supporting indirect communication between the two sides rather than formally announcing hosting roles.
Oman, in particular, has a history of quietly mediating between the US and Iran, while Gulf states and regional powers continue to encourage restraint and dialogue. However, no formal negotiation process has begun, and most contacts remain indirect.
Analysts suggest that Pakistan’s visible diplomatic role, combined with quieter efforts from other regional actors, could help create momentum toward eventual talks if both sides show willingness to negotiate.
