UN Calls for Immediate End to Middle East War

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has warned that the conflict in the Middle East is “out of control” and urged an immediate end to the fighting. Speaking at a press conference, he said the war has gone beyond expectations and risks triggering a wider regional crisis.

He called on the United States and Israel to stop the war as civilian casualties continue to rise, and urged Iran to halt attacks on neighboring countries. Guterres stressed that ongoing violence is deepening human suffering and causing serious global economic disruptions.

The UN chief also announced the appointment of Jean Arnault as his Personal Envoy to support peace efforts and engage directly with all parties. He said the United Nations is working closely with international partners to promote dialogue and de-escalation.

Guterres warned that the conflict is affecting global markets, energy supplies, and food security, particularly in developing countries. He emphasized that rising oil and fertilizer disruptions could worsen poverty and hunger worldwide.

“War is not the answer,” he said, calling for diplomacy and full respect for international law. He added that the only way forward is an immediate end to the conflict and a return to peace.
