Pakistan Successfully Launches First Panda Bond in China

Islamabad/Beijing – May 14, 2026: Pakistan has successfully launched its first-ever Panda Bond in China’s financial market, marking the country’s first entry into the world’s second-largest capital market.

Pakistan issued 1.75 billion yuan worth of three-year bonds, while total investor bids reached 8.8 billion yuan, nearly five times the offered amount. Strong investor demand enabled Pakistan to secure financing at a low interest rate of 2.5 percent.

The successful issuance reflects growing international confidence in Pakistan’s economic reforms, financial stability, and sovereign credit profile. The bond launch also expands Pakistan’s access to China’s financial market and broadens its international investor base.

Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb described the Panda Bond issuance as a historic milestone, saying it signals Pakistan’s stronger return to global financial markets and deepens financial cooperation between Pakistan and China.

The successful launch is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s global financial standing and support the country’s long-term economic stability and growth.
