Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Begins Official Visit to Saudi Arabia

High-Level Talks to Focus on Strategic Partnership, Regional Security, and Economic Cooperation

Islamabad | 6 August 2026 — Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has commenced a three-day official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 6–8 August 2026, accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Defence Forces, and senior federal ministers.

According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will join the delegation from Madinah after concluding his participation in the Ministerial Meeting on Jerusalem in Jordan.

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to hold high-level talks with Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia. The discussions are expected to focus on further strengthening Pakistan–Saudi Arabia bilateral relations while exchanging views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.

The visit reflects the enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, built on decades of mutual trust, close cooperation, and deep brotherly ties. Both countries continue to work closely across defence, security, investment, energy, trade, and people-to-people relations.

Taking place against the backdrop of heightened tensions in the Gulf region, the visit carries significance beyond the immediate regional situation. It is expected to deepen strategic cooperation, enhance political coordination on regional and global issues, strengthen economic engagement, and reinforce collaboration in multilateral forums.

Diplomatic observers believe the meetings could contribute to greater coordination on regional stability, security, and economic development while reaffirming the shared commitment of Islamabad and Riyadh to promoting peace, prosperity, and constructive engagement across the broader Middle East.
