PM Shehbaz Sharif Attends Funeral of Iran’s Late Supreme Leader; Arrives in Türkiy


**Tehran/Istanbul, July 3:** Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif attended the funeral ceremony of the late Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in Tehran on Friday at the invitation of Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian.

The Prime Minister led a high-level Pakistani delegation comprising Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and other senior government officials.

During the solemn ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the late Iranian leader, recalling his lasting contributions to Islam and his decades of leadership marked by wisdom and foresight. He offered prayers for the departed leader and expressed Pakistan’s heartfelt condolences and solidarity with the new Supreme Leader, His Eminence Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, and the brotherly people of Iran during this time of national mourning.

A parliamentary delegation led by Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, along with several parliamentarians and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, also attended the funeral ceremony.

Following the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed Tehran for an official visit to Türkiye. **The Prime Minister has now arrived in Istanbul, where he is scheduled to hold engagements with the Turkish leadership during his visit.**
