UN General Assembly Presidency Election Set for June 2; Two Candidates in Race

United Nations, May 14: The election process for the President of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly is underway, with two candidates formally contesting the post.
During informal interactive dialogues at UN Headquarters, Andreas S. Kakouris of Cyprus and Khalilur Rahman of Bangladesh presented their vision statements and responded to questions from member states and civil society representatives.
The election for the next President of the General Assembly (PGA) will take place on June 2 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. A total of two candidates are participating in the election for the presidency of the UN General Assembly’s 81st session.
