Pakistan’s IT Exports Reach Record $4.6 Billion as PM Reviews Digital Roadmap

ISLAMABAD, July 23, 2026: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting to review progress on Pakistan’s IT Strategic Roadmap, where officials announced that the country’s annual IT exports had reached a record US$4.6 billion, marking a 21 percent increase over the previous year.

The Prime Minister praised the Ministry of IT and its team, describing the growth as the result of the government’s digital economy reforms. He reaffirmed that expanding IT exports, strengthening digital infrastructure, and improving the quality of IT training remain top national priorities.

The meeting was informed that mobile spectrum availability has increased from 274 MHz in June 2025 to 880 MHz in June 2026, while smartphone penetration has reached 72 percent. Officials also highlighted progress under the Digital Nation Pakistan initiative, including the digitization of 130 public services and the implementation of AI projects across several government institutions in collaboration with Alibaba.
