RAWALPINDI, July 6, 2026: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), on Monday presided over the 276th Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) at General Headquarters (GHQ), where the country’s prevailing security environment, operational preparedness and regional developments were reviewed.

The conference began with Fateha for the Shuhada of the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies and innocent civilians. The forum reaffirmed that their sacrifices remain the foundation of Pakistan’s security, unity and resilience, while expressing satisfaction over the operational preparedness, professionalism and combat readiness of the armed forces.

The forum voiced serious concern over what it described as the continued use of territory under the control of the Afghan Taliban regime by Indian-sponsored militant groups, including Fitna al Khawarij (FAK) and Fitna al Hindustan (FAH), to launch attacks inside Pakistan. It maintained that lasting regional peace and stability depend on preventing the use of Afghan Taliban-controlled territory by such groups, adding that Pakistan would continue intelligence-based operations against terrorism under the ambit of Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq.

Besides kinetic operations, the participants stressed the need for robust governance structures in restive areas to improve public service delivery and welfare, while dismantling what the forum termed the terror-crime nexus operating under political patronage.

The conference observed that following what it called the comprehensive defeat inflicted in Mark-e-Haq, hostile elements had increasingly turned to externally supported hybrid warfare and disinformation campaigns aimed at creating unrest. The forum condemned all forms of state-supported financing, facilitation and sponsorship of proxy groups, reiterating Pakistan’s resolve to counter hybrid threats with strategic clarity and firm determination.

Reviewing the regional security landscape, the forum appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting dialogue, de-escalation and regional stability, reaffirming the country’s commitment to peaceful conflict resolution, adherence to international law and enhanced regional cooperation.

The participants also discussed recent Indian rhetoric regarding the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) and reaffirmed the guidance contained in the National Security Committee’s directive issued on April 24, 2025. The forum pledged to take all necessary measures to safeguard Pakistan’s rightful share of water in accordance with government directives.

The conference further condemned alleged human rights violations and demographic changes in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), reiterating Pakistan’s diplomatic, political and moral support for the Kashmiri people and their right to self-determination in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions.

In his concluding remarks, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir directed commanders to expedite implementation of the armed forces’ multi-domain transformation plan in line with the evolving character of warfare. He also emphasized maintaining the highest standards of vigilance, operational readiness and professional excellence to effectively respond to conventional, sub-conventional and hybrid threats while safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and national interests.
