GCC, US Discuss Regional Security, Iran Talks at Manama Ministerial Meeti
MANAMA, Bahrain, June 25, 2026 — Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah participated in a joint ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the United States in Manama on Thursday.
The meeting brought together foreign ministers and senior officials from GCC member states, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Participants reviewed strategic relations between the GCC and the United States and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation across political, economic, and security sectors. The talks also focused on regional developments, ongoing challenges in the Middle East, and mechanisms to enhance coordination in support of peace and stability.
A key topic of discussion was the ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran. Ministers stressed the importance of ensuring that any future agreements take into account the security interests of GCC states and contribute to long-term regional stability, while upholding the principles of sovereignty, good-neighborliness, and non-interference in the internal affairs of nations.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of maritime security and the uninterrupted flow of international trade through regional waterways, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, which remains a critical route for global energy supplies and commerce.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the GCC and the United States reaffirmed their commitment to continued consultation and coordination on issues of mutual concern and expressed support for comprehensive political solutions aimed at achieving sustainable security and shared prosperity across the region.
