US–Iran Ceasefire Proposals

Several proposals have emerged to end the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran, but no final agreement has been reached due to major differences in their positions.

The United States has presented a comprehensive plan that calls for Iran to limit or dismantle its nuclear program, restrict its ballistic missile capabilities, and stop supporting regional proxy groups such as Hezbollah. It has also proposed a 30-day temporary ceasefire to allow negotiations, along with reopening the Strait of Hormuz to stabilize global energy supplies.

On the other hand, Iran has made it clear that it will not agree to any deal unless the United States and its allies completely halt military attacks. Iran is demanding a full withdrawal of US forces from the region, guarantees against future attacks, and compensation for war damages. It is also unwilling to fully abandon its nuclear program, offering only limited or conditional compromises.

The core issue is a fundamental disagreement: the US wants Iran to scale back its military and nuclear capabilities first, while Iran insists that hostilities must end and security guarantees be provided before any concessions. Because of this deadlock, the chances of an immediate ceasefire remain uncertain and the conflict continues.
